Download hexbug battle ground spider8/24/2023 ![]() The stock Spider has a small circuit board that allows for the control of two motors with a remote. sought to remedy this and came up with a line-following board replacement for the Hexbug Spider. While they’re able to be commanded to move forward, backward, and spin around on a dime, there aren’t any external sensors to make it really exciting. You may be familiar with the Hexbug Spider, a small electronic robot toy sold at Target and Walmart for $20. You can see the OpenCV-controlled Hexbug in action after the break, along with a video build log with showing everyone how to tear apart one of these robot toys.Ĭontinue reading “Giving The Hexbug Spider A Set Of Eyes” → Posted in Toy Hacks Tagged hexbug, hexbug spider, opencv Turning The Hexbug Spider Into A Line-following Robot It’s a neat build, and surprisingly nimble for a $20 plastic hexapod robot. ![]() The smartphone app detects a user-selectable hue – in this case a little Android toy robot – and sends commands to the MSP430-powered motor control board over the headphone jack to move the legs. This time, instead of a few LEDs, turned to an Android smartphone running an OpenCV-based app. Previously, we’ve seen turn a Hexbug spider into a line following robot with a pair of IR LEDs and a drop-in replacement motor driver. With a few extra parts, though, it can become a vastly more powerful robotics platform, as shows us with his experiments with a Hexbug and OpenCV. ![]() The Hexbug Spider is a neat little robot toy available at just about any Target or Walmart for about $20.

Us navy seal war crime trial8/23/2023 ![]() According to a confidential Navy criminal investigation report obtained by The New York Times, they gave him the bloody details and asked for a formal investigation. "Tired of being brushed off, seven members of the platoon called a private meeting with their troop commander in March 2018 at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego. But their frustration grew as months passed and they saw no sign of official action. "Navy SEAL commandos from Team 7’s Alpha Platoon said they had seen their highly decorated platoon chief commit shocking acts in Iraq. ![]() Indiscriminately spraying neighborhoods with rockets and machine-gun fire. Picking off a school-age girl and an old man from a sniper’s roost. New York Times: " Navy SEALs Were Warned Against Reporting Their Chief for War Crimes" - "Stabbing a defenseless teenage captive to death. And we do well to remember this as we consider just how incredible the tasks and demands and moral burdens are that we place on the shoulders of that small slice of our population that wages war on our behalf. Yes, indeed, when the enemy contorts the very rules of warfare themselves against our efforts, it makes the challenge to fight honorably ever more difficult. Rather, just the opposite: The very reason our brave men and women do what they do in the first place, is precisely because they believe that they are fighting for a just cause, and waging war the right way, with noble and honorable means. The moral standards we should hold ourselves and our military to cannot be those of the enemy we fight. Yet this view does occasionally find a voice and it persists, especially in broader society’s own understanding of our military. This kind of broken moral thinking is - rightly and thankfully - rejected by the overwhelming majority of the SOCOM community. The other troubling narrative that one occasionally hears in these discussions is the notion that "they" - the enemy our military fights against - "do worse things to us," as if that therefore justifies or somehow gives license for wrongful behavior by our troops. It is, frankly, irresponsible and damaging to the ethical culture of the organization when we prejudge that process and, even worse, try to rally political leaders to weigh in and influence that process. Because note that these cases are devastatingly tragic whichever conclusions the trial ultimately comes to. We should not rally around either 'side' in these heartbreaking cases, but rather rally around the rule of law and the legal process itself, and trust in that. On the other hand, we also cannot stack the deck against those who were willing to speak out about what they believed was wrong either. And we must respect the military legal process and allow the case to play out. Yes, absolutely, on the one hand, every individual is innocent until proven guilty and that’s certainly the case here. However, I worry about the damage done to the ethical culture of our military, and especially Special Operations Command (SOCOM), when we politicize these cases and make them yet one more football in our culture wars. The ethical culture of any complex organization requires dutiful work and strong leadership - and, thankfully, our special operations forces have that and there is a sincere and strong commitment to building and driving an ethical culture within this community from the very senior leadership right through ranks. Darkest dungeon abomination restriction8/23/2023 What does matter is that, for any state aside from passive, the character also has a random chance of doing affliction-type things in battle, such as spouting random bullshit that stresses out other characters, attacking other characters as a free action at the start of their turn, refusing to accept a healing skill, using a random skill, shifting their position, passing their turn, etc. For the most part, the buffs/debuffs don't really matter (even the +25% damage buff from bloodlust isn't as good as it sounds because about half of the characters treat the actual damage of their attacks as a nice bonus rather than their main appeal). When a character has the crimson curse, it gives some pretty minor buffs/debuffs, with the specifics depending on whether the curse's state is passive, craving, wasted, or bloodlust. ![]() For one thing, unlike other diseases, it can't be cured except by killing the next crimson court boss (until you kill the countess, after which it can be cured in the sanitarium). This is a special disease that can be inflicted by almost every new enemy (I think only chevaliers can't inflict it), but it really works more like a mortality affliction. Now, unfortunately, I can't talk about the Crimson Court DLC without also talking about the crimson curse. This all works to make it so that it should take about the same amount of time to do all of the missions in the crimson courtyard as it would to kill all six bosses in the other standard areas, but they're condensed into a set of just four missions, three of which end in unique bosses (okay, yes, after killing the countess, you can fight the statue boss as many times as you want, but that's basically just another generic mission at that point). The light level is just always set to "blood light" (which gives the benefits of any " if torchlight is over 75" quirks/accessories), and torches are just used for interacting with curios or giving the party a minor accuracy buff for their next fight. As well, the torch doesn't work in the same way in there as it does in the rest of the game. This isn't a pain in the ass, though, because the game actually saves your progress in the mission if you retreat, so you can take it on in smaller pieces rather than having to do it all in one go. I mean, not so much the general little missions to collect some of The Blood, but the actual plot missions there all dwarf the size of any other missions, including the "exhausting"-tier mission in the darkest dungeon. That last part is important, by the way, because the courtyard missions are fucking huge. Of course, these upgrades become less viable if you're playing with a time limited difficulty level, but that arguably makes it a more interesting decision as to whether or not to go for them. The increased critical hit chance for bounty hunters/grave robbers/highwaymen, the increased status chances for plague doctors, and the innate stress resistance for jesters are all wonderful upgrades the extra action points during camping for abominations/hellions/lepers is ridiculous, especially since it can't be substituted with an accessory like most of the other class perks can and the extra benefits for having high torchlight make playing in brightness (something that you should be doing already, in most cases) even more rewarding. I wasn't too keen on this at first because I'd thought that the number of heirlooms required for them was excessive enough that you wouldn't get much actual benefit from them by the time you can afford them, but that ended up not being the case. Third, killing bosses can reward you with blueprints, which are used to unlock special upgrades that cost a fuckton of heirlooms. Stress is an issue when it happens in dungeons, but in town, it's just a matter of not using that character for a little while to recover it (or, if it was a shitty character anyway, just dismiss them). ![]() At worst, you'll waste some money and gain a bit of extra stress on your characters. What makes it too forgiving in the case of Darkest Dungeon is being able to retreat from individual fights with very high chances of success and being able to retreat from whole missions with very little consequences. ![]() This is, of course, standard procedure for playing a roguelike, so that's hardly anything novel, nor is it something that negates challenge innately. The way to assure your success is to first and foremost reduce your reliance on the RNG as much as possible, then to stack the odds in your favor as much as possible, and only then to take advantage of characters having that final safeguard against dying. The death's door mechanic is part of this, but it's really just a last resort. This all underscores another point: Darkest Dungeon is too forgiving to really be considered a hard game.

Dredge edh deck8/23/2023 ![]() Admittedly, I don't know very much about her, but like Tasigur, she's in Sultai colors and is graveyard-focused, so there's definitely fun to be had. Or, if you decide not to combo, you can play as a value dredge machine that makes Jarad bigger and bigger, and swing in with the full enthusiasm of both Timmy and Johnny. Jarad is best known for being a combo machine, being able to combo with ] to kill an entire table, along with other combos. He's also in only two colors, which means that while he doesn't have access to blue, white, or red, he can go deeper into G/B without having to worry about another color hogging the mana base (he's also in the same colors as Meren, so you can switch them out if you prefer one or the other). Just like the other two listed before him, Jarad has the ability to get around the commander tax, but it's a little less obvious/consistent, as you have to keep him in your graveyard instead of sending him to the command zone, and then use his ability to return him to your hand. If you choose not to go the infinite combo route, you can play Tasigur's ability very politically, and play the other players at the table to your advantage to get the cards you want from your graveyard. If you choose to go the combo route, you can generate infinite mana, dump your library into your graveyard, and then put it all into your hand, and because you have infinite mana + your entire library in your hand, it's easy to win from there. He also has access to blue, which gives you fun cards like ], ], ], and loads of counter magic. Like Karador, he can also circumvent the commander tax with dredge. Tasigur can be a very fun and political commander. If you don't want to go with combo, he can easily play as a stax/control general, sculpting the board, graveyards, and hands, and will outlast most decks in a war of attrition (since all of your stuff with just keep coming back). He also can get around the commander tax if you have enough creatures, so he's always cheap to cast! Generally, Karador (along with most dredge generals) is built with combo in mind, the most common being ] + ] + sac outlet to get all of your creatures onto the board, and then comboing from there. Karador focuses on dumping your library into your graveyard (duh) and getting value out of smaller creatures with fun ETB effects to help you control the board. One of the few dredge commanders with access to white, you get fun things like ], ], ], ], ], and much more. The best dredge commanders, in my opinion (in no particular order):
